About

Artist, illustrator, immersive media producer

Introduction

My name is Pablo Melchor and I'm an artist: illustrator, immersive media producer, and someone with aggressively niche taste who needs to rotate the art on my walls every few months.

I swap prints in my house and office depending on mood, season, and whatever project has colonised my brain. Darker days? Bring on the vibrant work. Deep in a Lynch-inspired phase? Time for mystery and atmosphere. The art needs to stay fresh, relevant, and actually inspiring to look at every day.

For years, friends kept asking for prints of my work. I never had the time to set it up properly until now. This is the website I always wished existed: high discoverability, simple navigation, varied enough to cover all your moods, quality that doesn't make you wince at the price. No frustrating browsing. No settling. Just designs.

The Work

I've been using AI as a tool in my practice for over 8 years, long before the current explosion. Early GANs, style transfer experiments, projection mapping, game engines, digital cameras, and Photoshop (which I started learning at 13 in 1998). These are all instruments in the same toolkit.

Generative AI has been transformative for bridging vision and execution, but the prints are still a labour of love. Some take 2 hours to make, some take 48. What matters isn't just the direct work, it's the decades of accumulated experience: the countless hours in museums and galleries studying French Fauves, medieval art, punk aesthetics, even furries. The vision comes first. The tools help me get there.

"I use a kind of Turing test for art: Would I think this was 100% handmade if I saw it in a museum? Is it faithful to my vision? Does it inspire me?"

AI lets me explore insanely different universes at a pace and scale that would otherwise be impossible, and I'd be sad not to take that opportunity.

Situationism drives everything I make. Am I taking you somewhere? Is it thought-provoking, emotive, unsettling in the right way? That's the curatorial standard.

The Credentials

My work has been exhibited across Paris, New York, and Manchester:

  • Tate Modern, London
  • Barbican, London
  • Manchester Art Gallery
  • Castlefield Gallery, Manchester
  • Forum des Images, Paris

A turning point was Dutty Lingo at Tate Modern in 2012: seeing my work projected across dozens of metres in such a prestigious venue was both humbling and a huge confidence boost. My ambition had finally caught up with the opportunities.

Why This Shop, Why Now

Recent AI-assisted programming tools finally let me build the exact website I envisioned: clean, navigable, and obsessively focused on the designs themselves. No clutter. No gimmicks. Just a catalogue that works the way I wish every print shop worked.

Who This Is For

Honestly? I'm still figuring that out. Anime lovers, design enthusiasts, office managers looking for something that doesn't scream "corporate art," hotel buyers, people decorating their first real apartment. The range is wide because my work is wide, from raw and gritty to lush and dreamlike.

I know who this isn't for: people with garish taste, racists, misogynists, bigots, etc. If you're here, you probably get it.

Welcome. Hope you find something that fits your walls or your mood.
